The Srimad Bhagavatam is generally mistaken to be
the same as Bhagavadgita.The Bhagavadgita was spoken
by Lord Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra to induce
Arjuna to fight. It is concise in nature.
Srimad Bhagavatam is the graduate study of the Bhagavadgita.
The Srimad Bhagavatam is one of the 18 puranas and known
as Bhagavata Purana.It is the essence of all the Vedas.
It is composed of 18,000 verses, divided into 12 cantos
It is written by the author Vedavyasa. It was spoken by Shukadeva,
the son of Vedavyasa to king Parikshit on the banks of Ganges
when the latter was cursed to die after 7 days.
The Bhagavadgita consists of 700 verses and is the
essence of all the Upanishads.
