Diwali Greetings.

This Diwali, I am sending my dear viewers

CASH:

C=Care;A=Affection;S=Smiles;H=Hugs.

Wishing you all a very happy Diwali:

Sky-full of fireworks.Mouth-full of sweets.

House full of diyas(lamps) and Heart full of joy.

May the divine light of diwali spread into your life

peace, prosperity, happiness and good health.

It is an opportunity to entreat the Deities

to bless us all and rid us of sufferings.

Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights.

It spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness,

good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope

over despair.

The 13 reasons  behind the jubilations are-

1.Birthday of Goddess Lakshmi. She is said

to have been incarnated from the depth of

the bottomless ocean during the Samudra

Manthana (churning of ocean by the angels

and devils.

2.Killing of Narakasura the devil by Satyabhama.

who was an incarnation of Bhudevi(earth goddess)

as she only could kill him.

3.Return of Rama after vanquishing the evil king

Ravana and after passing a period of 14 years in exile.

4.The return of Pandavas from 12 years of banishment.

They were kind and honest and loved by the people.

5.The coronation of Vikramaditya on Diwali, following

his victory  over the Shakas in 56 BC.

6. For the Jains, Diwali commemorates the

enlightenment of Vardhamana Mahaveera. He was

the last Thirthankara of the Jains .

7.The enlightenment of Swami Dayananda Saraswati

a reformer of Hinduism and founder of  Arya Samaj in 1875.

8. Special day for the Sikhs. It was on the occasion of

Diwali, the foundation stone of Golden Temple at Amritsar

was laid in 1577. The 6th Sikh Guru was freed from

imprisonment  in 1619 by Jahangir on Diwali day.

9.Goddess Kali saved heaven and earth from the

growing  cruelty of the demons by killing all the

devils.

10. The harvest festival. Diwali falls in the time of

Kharif crop, when the rice cultivation gives its fruits.

11.Hindu New Year Day.Hindu businessmen offer pujas

and start new book of accounts and pay off all the debts.

12.Diwali marks the overcoming of Mahabali by Lord

Vishnu. Mahabali was  violent in his ways with the Devas(gods)

On their insistence, Lord Vishnu disguised himself as

Vamana(short Brahmin) and approached Mahabali

for some charity. Bali was tricked into giving up his

kingship and wealth. Diwali marks the overcoming of

Mahabali by Lord Vishnu. But  Mahabali was bestowed

a boon by  Lord Vishnu  to return to earth for one day

during diwali festival to be honoured by his beloved people.

13.According to Skanda Purana, Goddess Shakti(wife of Shiva)

observed 21 days of Kedhara Vrata.Diwali is the completion

day of this austerity. This is the day when Lord Shiva accepted

Shakti into the left half of of His form and appeared as

Ardhanarishwara.
