The songs which I like:

1)Dear ones, never lie; you have to face God one day.

You will not get elephant or horse to go there, even

if you are rich; you have to go there only by walking;

your palacial buildings and valuables if any, will stay

here only. Why do you bother to hold up your ego in pride?

When eventually you will have to bow your head before God?

Your good deeds will get good rewards in return;

and your bad deeds will make you suffer;

what’s the point in keeping track of these matters now?

When eventually you have to pay your dues.

Childhood was spent in playing. Youth was spent in sleeping.

The old age saw this and shed tears.There is nothing new in

this age-old story of humanbeings.

—This song is from Hindi film”Thisri Kasam”(=third oath)

Singer:Mukhesh Chandra Mathur.

2)Hearts meet here only to be departed;

buds bloom into flowers only to fade away;

lovely weather is here today;this may not be there tomorrow;

joyful spring is in the air; this may not stay until tomorrow;

if you are able to get some moments today, spend them in love;

the noise of frogs and other creatures in the lakes, make us think

as if the lakes are alive and sing the song of clouds through their lips;

the young lotuses and other flowers that are red in color, appear as

though they are carrying cool fires in their hearts;

Our hearts are thirsty for friendship and affection;

nights seem thirsty for celebration; the impatient

lips are on the verge to say some sweet words;

let us imprint in the mirrors of our hearts,

this colorful and musical scenes of loving atmosphere;

Let us find all our happiness in these moments of love.

–This song is from the Hindi film ”Sharmilee”;

Singer:Lata Mangeshkar.

3)Some lines from the poem ”Abraham Lincoln’s letter

to his son’s Head Master.”

He will have to learn I know, that all men are not just,

all men are not true.

But teach him also that for every scoundrel, there is a hero;

that, for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader.

Teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend.

Teach him to learn to lose and also to enjoy winning.

Steer him from envy, if you can. Teach him the secret

of quite laughter. Let him learn early that the bullies

are the easiest to tick. Teach him, if you can, the wonder

of books.. but also give him quiet time, to ponder over

the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun,

and flowers on a green hill-side. (to be continued)

Diary: Often we go for a walk in the evening from Serenity Apt.

upto Ferry Terminal, Larkspur, and when we sit on the bench

near the peacefully flowing ocean, I keep on musing that during

the period of  Ramayana and Mahabharata, sages like Valmiki and

Vedavyasa composed their great epics, while  sitting near the banks

of  the rivers which might have resembled the place where we were

sitting.I am full of admiration towards the local administration which

provides sanity vehicles for removal of garbages stored in seperate

sheds built for the purpose,in every housig colonies.People are nice

and cast a smile whenever we meet them , even though we are strangers .
