Diary: I attended the opening ceremony of Udupi D.C.(District Commissioner’s )Office, named Rajatadri(Rajata=silver,Adri=mountain)at Manipal on 25th December and it was X’mas day. Udupi district was formed on 25th August, 1997. It was the birthday of Lord Shri Krishna(Janmashtami). It was the 8th month of the year and Shri Krishna was the 8th son of Vasudeva(father) and Devaki(mother). The D.C. Office was built at the cost of 30 crore rupees, on 25th December,2011 (after 14 years) on the birhday of Jesus Christ, the loving son of Lord, the creator of the universe. The attractive building built in Nepali style, was inaugurated by the chief minister of Karnataka. Many artists were rewarded during the function.Udupi was called Roupya(=silver) Pita(seat) long ago because of the
presence of temple of Shiva(Chandra Mouli).Lord Shiva is resident of Rajatadri,
(mountain of silver=Himaalaya). There was classical music
on Saxophone by Udupi Janardhan. We saw the statue of B.R.Ambedkar
(member of committee who composed constitution of India) and sculpture
carved in stone of Gandhiji along with his followers, marching on Dandi Yatra.
December 25th is also the birthday of Madan Mohan Malaviya, who founded
the Benares(Kashi/Varanasi) Hindu University. Atal Bihari Vajapayee, the ex Prime
Minister of India also celebrates his 87th birthday. The day is particularly special for me because my spouse is celebrating his birthday today on 25th December.
Also note that this is the last Sunday(25th December,2011) of this year.
Wish you all happy X’mas and prosperous New Year!
