her Ashoka Road residence by Sher Singh Rana (sources reveal)

on 2001.

2)Birthday of Raageshwari (1977), Indian pop singer and actress.

3)–do—of Somnath Chatterjee (1929), ex-Lok Sabha Speaker.

4)On July 25th, 1978, Louise Joy Brown,world’s first successful

”Test-tube” baby was born in Oldham, Greater Manchester,

U.K.(Great Britain).

5)Names of Presidents , who assumed the post on 25th July.

Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy (1977), Gyani zail Singh (1982),

R. Venkatraman (1987), Shankar Dayal Sharma (1992),

K.R.Narayanan (1997), A.P.J.Abdul Kalam (2002),

Pratibha Patil (2007). Immediately prior to election

as the 12th and the  first female  President of India,

Pratibha Patil was serving  as  the 24th and the first

female Governor of Rajasthan from November 8,

2004 to 23rd July ,2007.

6) RabriDevi, wife of Lalu Prasad Yadav, became

the chief minister of Bihar on 1997.

7) Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister of India on 2007.

6)Death of V.K.R.V.Rao (1908 to 1991), an economist of

international eminence.Vijayendra Kasturi Ranga Varadaraja

Rao, was born on July 8,1908 at Kancheepuram in Tamilnadu.

He was the founder director of 3  noted institutions namely,

a)the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi, b)the Institute for

Social and Economic Change, Bangalore and c) Institute of

Economic Growth. In the international sphere, he was one

of the  central forces behind the institutions of the ”United

Nations Development Programme”(U.N.D.P.) and the I.D.A.

(International Development Association) which is  the part of

World Bank that helps the world’s  poorest countries. I.D.A.

was established in 1960.  He was awarded Ph.D. in 1937 from

Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. The title of his doctoral

thesis  was, ”The national income of British India-1931-1932”.

He was awarded ”Padma Vibhushana”  in 1974 , by the

Government of India.

7)Svetlana Savitskaya of the Soviet Union became the first

Russian  woman to walk in the space (1984). She spent more

than three and half hours in outer space. Kathryn D. Sullivan

was the first  U.S. woman to walk in space on October 11,1984.

8)Benito Mussolini(29-7-1883 to 28-4-1945) , the  40th Prime

Minister and dictator of Italy for 21 years, was forced from office

in 1943. Benito Mussolini was an Italian politician, who led the

National Fascist Party and is credited with being one of the key

figures in the creation of Fascism.  King Victor Emmanuel

removed him from power and had  him arrested.He was

rescued  by Hitler, who installed him as the head of the

puppet ”Italian Social Republic”.After the Allied invasion

of Sicily in southern Italy, Nazis controlled the northern

Italy. The rumour that the Allies were going to liberate

Northern Italy, convinced Mussolini to flee to Switzerland.

On April 28, 1945 he was caught by the Italian partisans and

executed, ending Fascist domination in Italy.
