Important Events Of July 8th.

1)Birthday of Sourav Ganguly (1972), Indian cricketer.

2)—do—-ofNitu Sigh (1958), cine actress and wife of Rishi Kapur,

Bollywood actor.

3)Birthday of  Late Jyothi Basu (1914), the ex-chief minister of West

Bengal. The veteran C.P.M. leader, dies on January, 17th 2010.

4)Death anniversary of  Chandrashekhar, the 11th P.M. of India.

He was  born on  1st July 1927.

5)World Allergy Day. World Allergy  Organisation, in association

with the ”Global Alliance Against Chronic Respiratory Disease

Programme” of W.H.O. designed the World Allergy Day to encourage

awareness and education in allergies particularly childhood asthma,

a chronic allergic respiratory disease.

6)Death anniversary of Percy Bysshe Shelley (1822), English

Romantic poet who rebelled  against English politics and

conservative values. He employed mythological themes

and figures  from Greek poetry, that gave an exalted tone

for his visions.He died on July 8, 1822, in a boat mishap ,

when his  small schooner in which he was returning to

Lerici, sank due to storm. This  radical poet, spent  most

of his short, tragic life in semi  obscurity in exile. He was

born on 4th August, 1792.

7)Portugese  explorer, Vasco da gama (1460-1524), sailed from

Lisbon, Portugal on 1497, with a fleet of 4 ships,  heading to

the East. He discovered an ocean route  from Portugal To the East.

8)Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964),

inaugurated the world’s  longest Bhakra-Nangal  Dam at

Punjab on July 8, 1954.This highest gravity dam, built

across the river Sutlej is located at a distance of about

116kms  from Chandigarh.It was dedicated to  Nation

by late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on November 20th, 1963.

9)On July 8, 1947 General  Roger Ramey changed the story

of a recovered crashed disk  near Roswell,New Maxico to that

of a retrieved  Rawin weather balloon.This was the informal

beginning  of the now  64-year truth embargo regarding  the

extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.For this

reason July 8 was chosen as World Disclosure Day  by

Washington D.C.-Paradigm Research Group. The purpose of

World Disclosure Day is to provide a focal point for people and

organisations to come together to assert their right to know and

demand  cosmic truths being withheld from them by their governments.

10)An experimental, solar powered, glider-like giant aircraft completes

a 26 hour flight in Payerne, Switzerland. The solar  impulse HB -SIA, which

is a  lightweight carbon fibre plane,relies on  12,000 solar cells on its 64 meter

wings to charge  the batteries that provide  the energy for its four, 10-horsepower

electric propeller engines.Bertrand Piccard is the  Swiss president of the project.

France’s Altran is the project’s  engineer partner.
