3)Kempe Gowda, was the founder of Bangalore  city .

He shifted his capital from Yelahanka to Bengalore.

He ruled for 56 years from 1513 to 1569 A.D.

He derived his name from Deity, Kempamma,

who was the consort of Bhaire Deva, their family god.

Kempe gowda belonged to Yelahanka  Nada  Prabhu

dynasty, founded by Jayappa  Gowda.

4)The right hemisphere of our brain is ”Shakthi”(emotional brain)

and the left is ”Shiva”(logical brain). The union of logic and emotion

(Shiva and Shakti) awakens the chaitanya(energy).

1)Tattoos children  paste on their hands or faces  are harmful.

Colour additives of tattoos and gum  used to apply tattoos are

not  quality tested and cause skin diseases like dermatities.

Tattoos are made of P.T.B.P.resin which cause depigmentation

in skin of children.

2)Any hair dye containing phenylene  diamins-based ingredient

should be immediately considered as able to induce  bladder cancer,

breast cancer,multiple myeloma and leukemia.  Henna  and herbal

based dyes  used to color hair, do not have any side affects.

3)Coca-Cola  spraying to cotton and chilli fields–cheap and easy

to use as pesticides–tradition is that  sugary solutions attract

red ants to feed on insect larvae.

6)Diary:”When boredom sets in, life becomes a big yawn”

writes an author. I agree. Listening  to the absorbing music

broadcasted by the radio and watching comic serials  relayed

by  the various channels in  T.V. can save us from the biting

teeth of killing boredom.

Do You Know?

1)Blind means without sense of sight,

make unable to see permanently or temporarily.

There are also social blindness, economic blindness,

legal blindness and total blindness, so much so that 65

definitions of blindness are listed in World Health

Organisation publication (1966).

2)N.I.I. (National  Institute  of  Immunology ) scientists

claim to have developed cost effective  plant-based

vaccines  which can be produced  in huge quantities to

treat  Japanese Encephalitis, commonly known as brain fever.

J.E. is caused by flavivirus  which replicates in figs and

transmitted in humans  by mosquitoes.With the help

of proteins, synthesised in plants (banana, carrot )

oral vaccines are developed against against J.E.

At present the only vaccine against  J.E. is derived

from the brain of the mouse. Mice population is

inadequate  to produce enough vaccines.

3)Injected Benzathine penicillin in a prescribed dose,

give long lasting relief from psoriasis, a chronic skin

disease, in which scaly, reddish patches are formed.

The disease  is caused  by streptococcus bacteria which

also infects the throat.

Important Events Of June 29th.

1)Feast of St. Peter and  St.Paul.

St. Peter was a patron of  the fisherman and

St. Paul was known for his  hand crafts. Both

were  martyred on the same day leading to

celebration of these two Saints on the same day.

They are celebrated on June 29th with Christians

all over the world celebrating this day as  the  Feast

of St. Peter and St. Paul.

2)European  Scleroderma Day. The great Swiss artist

Paul Klee died on this day in 1940 of scleroderma.

Scleroderma is a  chronic connective tissue disease,

generally  classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic

disease.

3)Death anniversary of Michael Madhusudan Dutt (1873),

a Bengali poet and playwright. He was called as ”Father

of Bengali Sonnet”. He was born on 25th January 1824.

4)Birthday of Ashutosh Mukherjee (1864). He was a prolific

educator, lawyer and the first vice chancellor of the University

of Calcutta. In 1904, he was appointed as judge of  the Bengali

High Court.Because of his self respect, courage and   high

academic integrity, he was known as the ”Tiger of Bengal”.

He was the father of Shyam Prasad  Mukherjee, a politician

and founder of  ”Bharathiya Jana Sangha”.He  died on 25th may 1924.

5)International Mud Day.

It is a day to celebrate  mud pies, puddle jumping

and all the glories of good old mud.

6) World Industrial Design Day.

First declared  in 2007, on the occasion of Icsid’s

(International Centre  for the Settlement of

Investment Dispute-1957) 50th anniversary,

The  World Design Day  has been established

to promote awareness of the profession of industrial design.

1)A chinese man,  Wu (66 years old ) uses  elm trees

(which are flexible and do not  break easily )  to  grow

tree chair. He moulds the branches  into shape while

the tree is growing, constantly trims and guides  it into

shape before the chair is finally harvested.

2)New theory of music:

A  scientist has for the first time developed

a mathematical theory  of music  which he

says not only explain how ragas are formed

but also predicts  many new ragas that are

unknown  among musicians of today.

Dr. P.B.Mathur of the Central Electro

Chemical  Research Institute in Karaikudi,

also come up with a single nathematical

expression from which can be derived all the

seven notes or  swaras and the 12 tones of the

basic Octavian scale  used by musicians all over   the world.

3)French scientists have developed a mirror, that will offer a

reflection of the  ” future  you, 5 years on”. The  computer-powered

digital  mirror, a thinking  looking glass, will pick up data of

day’s diet, exercise and pattern of self indulgence and reveal the

”future you, 5 years on”.
